Retina Institute of Hawai‘i Opens Satellite Office on Maui

October 17, 2007

As Hawaii’s healthcare system continues to face doctor shortages and facility closures, the Retina Institute of Hawai‘i (RIH) is pleased to announce it will open a satellite office on Maui. The new office, located at 33 Lono Street in Kahului, will bring the total number of RIH offices statewide to six.

The Maui office will be equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and laser treatment facilities for the management of sight-threatening diseases affecting the retina, vitreous and macula. Among the common conditions treated are macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinal tears and detachments, and uveitis.

“The Retina Institute of Hawai‘i is so pleased to be expanding to Maui to better serve the needs of Neighbor Island residents,” said founder and president Dr. Michael Bennett. “Our fellowship trained retinal physicians and ophthalmologists are some of the best in the country, and we will be flying in our Honolulu team to Maui to focus on preventing, suspending and reversing vision loss.”

The Maui office will be open by appointment. For appointments or more information, call (808) 955-2055.

This is the first RIH office on Maui; its sixth office statewide. The main office is located in Honolulu, with additional satellite offices in Wahiawa, Waianae, Kona and Hilo. The Retina Institute of Hawai‘i is an O‘ahu-based ophthalmic practice founded in 2001 by Dr. Bennett. The institute specializes in the medical and surgical management of sight threatening diseases that affect the retina, vitreous and macula.
