New Center For Sight Maui To Provide Comprehensive, Specialized Vision Care

February 2, 2009

Amidst growing concerns over doctor shortages and limited medical services, Maui residents will enjoy comprehensive, specialized vision care with the opening of Center for Sight Maui. Located at 33 Lono Street in Kahului, the Center for Sight will begin accepting patients on February 2, 2009, and will be overseen by Dr. Jeffrey Guild, director of medical services.

A comprehensive multi-disciplinary practice, Center for Sight Maui has teamed with several fellowship-trained sub-specialty experts from Honolulu, including ophthalmologists, cataract, glaucoma, LASIK and oculoplastic specialists and also provides retinal services by the Retina Institute of Hawaii. The Center is equipped with laser treatment facilities and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, allowing the Oahu specialists, when needed, to review a patient’s clinical information, photographic and angiographic data. This type of telemedicine gives patients on Maui access to nationally recognized specialists in Honolulu without having to leave their local office.

Serving as the Center’s director of medical services, Dr. Guild specializes in the evaluation of cataracts, glaucoma, refractive surgery and ocular disease and has been recently managing patients while working with a Honolulu team of ophthalmologists. He also has extensive experience with custom contact lens design and is an active Orthokeratology, specialty toric and multi-focal contact lens fitter.

A graduate of the New England College of Optometry, Dr. Guild worked in the Portland VA clinic, the San Antonio Cataract and Laser Center and at a community health center in Boston during school. Following graduation, he moved to Hawaii where he held a primary practice on Maui with satellite offices on the neighbor islands until three years ago. The opening of Center for Sight Maui marks his return to the islands.

The Center for Sight Maui will be open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M by appointment. For more information, call (808) 877-8955.
