Gene Ng, M.D., M.B.A.

An accomplished ophthalmologist and surgeon, Dr. Gene Ng completed his residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins. He also completed a research fellowship in retinal diseases at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ng has a strong interest in the development of new drugs and medical devices for treatment of blinding diseases and has published research in the areas of macular degeneration, ocular infectious disease and microsurgical instrumentation.

Dr. Ng received his master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School and was a member of the management team of Eyetech, where he contributed to the development and launch of Macugen, the first anti-VEGF treatment for wet macular degeneration. He continues to advise companies and investors in technology development.

Having grown up in Australia, Dr. Ng maintains his love for the outdoors by surfing and horseback riding.
